Your choice about analytics
You can read this website and contact me without agreeing to analytics. Google Analytics is blocked until you select Allow analytics. Selecting Reject analytics leaves it blocked. Both choices are available in the same panel.
Use the Cookie settings button at the bottom of any page to review or change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops future measurement and removes Google Analytics cookies that this website can access. It does not erase information already sent to Google while you had agreed. You can contact us about that information separately.
Hosting, delivery and security functions continue whichever option you choose. Rejecting analytics does not prevent the technical processing needed to serve and protect the website.
Browsing, hosting and security
WPX Hosting delivers this WordPress website and its files. Requests can include your IP address, the requested page or file, date and time, browser and device information, response status and referrer. A search made through the site can also appear in the requested URL. These details allow the site to load, help diagnose faults and support protection against abuse. See WPX’s privacy policy.
Wordfence, provided by Defiant, Inc. in the United States, helps protect the site against malicious requests and unauthorized access. Its security functions process information such as IP addresses, URLs, browser details, timestamps, login attempts and blocked requests. The Wordfence Security Network is enabled, so information about attacks and suspicious activity can be shared with Defiant to improve protection. See Wordfence’s privacy policy.
Wordfence Live Traffic is set to record security-related traffic, with a local limit of 2,000 entries and 30 days. That limit applies to this particular log; active blocks, incident records and provider-side logs serve separate operational and security purposes. Other technical records are retained according to the need to deliver the service, investigate faults or abuse, resolve incidents and meet applicable obligations.
Font files used by the site are served from this domain. The theme also includes connection hints to Google font domains. Your browser may establish a connection to those domains, sharing technical connection information such as your IP address, even when analytics is declined. This does not enable Google Analytics.
What Google Analytics measures
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages visitors use and how they find the website. It processes cookie identifiers and information about page visits, referrers, browser and device characteristics, approximate location and interactions such as scrolling, outbound clicks or file downloads where available. We do not deliberately send your name, email address or the contents of your correspondence to Analytics.
The Analytics implementation on this website is for audience measurement. Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization remain disabled, and Google Signals is disabled in the site’s tracking configuration. Analytics is also excluded for logged-in WordPress administrators.
The property’s event-data retention is set to two months and user-data retention to 14 months. New activity resets the user-data retention period. Standard aggregated reports can remain available beyond these periods. These settings are separate from the cookie lifetimes below.
Google processes Analytics information through its international infrastructure, including in the United States. The account also permits contributions to aggregated modeling and business insights, technical support access and business recommendations under Google’s account settings. When you contact us
If you email one of the addresses on this website, we process your address, name if supplied, message and any attachments to respond, discuss potential work and manage the relationship. Email is handled through Google Workspace. Please include only the information needed for your enquiry.
Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry or engagement and any related obligations, disputes or claims. The relevant purpose and applicable record-keeping requirements determine the period. This website does not currently offer a public newsletter subscription, customer account, checkout or comment submission.
Links to other websites
Links to LinkedIn, publications, projects and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. They are links rather than embedded social tracking tools. The reading list includes Amazon affiliate links with a referral identifier. If you follow one, Amazon receives your request and may associate a purchase with that referral. Its own privacy and cookie notices apply on Amazon.
Why we use personal information
Applicable privacy rights and legal bases depend on your location and the processing involved. This notice covers the website’s processing under applicable UAE data-protection law, including Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and the GDPR or UK GDPR where they apply.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on consent for optional analytics (Article 6(1)(a)); steps requested before a contract and the performance of a contract for relevant enquiries and engagements (Article 6(1)(b)); legitimate interests in operating a professional website, answering general enquiries and preventing abuse (Article 6(1)(f)); and compliance with applicable legal obligations where required (Article 6(1)(c)). Consent is requested for optional access to or storage on your device where applicable law requires it. The preference record is used to remember and respect your choice.
Our operational and security interests include keeping the site available, detecting attacks and handling relevant business correspondence. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation. We do not use the website to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Recipients and international processing
Information is available to the operator and authorized people who need it for the purposes described here. Service providers include WPX Hosting for hosting and delivery, Defiant for Wordfence security, and Google for Workspace email and, if you consent, Analytics. Information may also be disclosed when lawfully required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
The operator is based in the UAE, and service providers can process information in other countries, including the United States. The protections and rights available there may differ from those in your country. Google publishes its international data-transfer arrangements, including standard contractual clauses and applicable adequacy frameworks. WPX and Defiant also provide data-processing terms. Where European transfer rules apply, the relevant transfer must be covered by an applicable legal mechanism. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data and how to obtain a copy of the relevant safeguards.
Your rights and how to reach us
Depending on applicable law, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy, and object to certain processing. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie settings, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Refusing analytics does not restrict access to the site.
Send requests to contact@sebastianscheplitz.com. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity before disclosing personal data. Some rights have exceptions, including where information must be retained to meet legal obligations or protect legal claims.
You can also complain to the competent data-protection authority. Where the GDPR applies, this may be the authority in your place of habitual residence or work, or where an alleged infringement occurred. The EDPB lists EU/EEA authorities; UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
This notice will be updated when the website’s processing changes. The date above identifies the current version.
