In the traditional sense, yes.
BUT the whole story is a bit more complex.
Expats emigrate from their home country to another for a job.
Not me though!
After giving up my residence in Germany I’ve become a global citizen. I can now live wherever I want to live.
???? The world is my home.
Sure, there might be some visa issues and some countries make this a little harder. But i usually only consider these countries for traveling, a holiday.
If I want to eat Greek for dinner, I’ll just spend a week in Athens. ????????
If I want to eat Sushi, I could go to Japan for a bit. ????????
Apart from that I can live in, let’s say, Dubai when the weather is great (not summer then ????) and then be in Bali for another three months. Or Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Miami, Barcelona, or my hometown…you get the deal.
Essentially, I’m building a trifecta lifestyle like @nomadcapilalist.
Imagine a holiday apartment or house, but instead of driving for an hour, it’s a six hour flight.
Per the plan, my apartments will always be ready and since I have friends everywhere I can easily dive back into the “new” place and enjoy the culture there.
We have clients everywhere and in every timezone. Being able to pop by their office is such a level up.
???????? Remote work made this possible and not just because of the pandemic.
I’ve been living this for sevens years now. I’m visiting clients and team members regularly to work alongside them, and we have constant team meetings – and they may all do the same.
And since my brain is always active with adapting to new environments, my productivity skyrocketed.
I recently had a talk about this with an old friend whose job is mainly location-dependend.
And I told him that it’s still possible to incorporate this.
For example, you could lump together all computer related tasks into one week, which gives you a full week of working somewhere else, let’s say Friday evening to Sunday evening the week after – that’s 10 days without taking a break from work.
