We need to reinvent travel!
Well, we need to reinvent a lot of things tbh… ????
But two things that keep bugging me about travel:
1️⃣ Sustainability
Mobility today needs to be more sustainable. Especially in big cities and between them.
Emissions from planes and cars need to be massively reduced.
But the alternatives are disastrous. Just look at the German train system which is notoriously badly planned and pretty much always late. Looking dreamily at you, Japan. ????????
2️⃣ Comfort
I don’t just mean the giant busses, aka planes. (I’m writing this on a Lufthansa flight… The “premium” airline that’s worse than Ryanair. ????)
But also the whole experience at the train stations and airports.
Staff needs to be trained better, especially on service mentality. On the other hand, a lot of people make it hard to not get in a stressed or bad mood. ????
Immigration/airport police needs to learn to smile and leave their “block warden” mentality behind. 99.99% of us just want to get from A to B.
AND Seating! Travelers of all shapes and forms are spending hours at airports.
Individuals, business travelers, families, large groups all have different needs, and pretty much none, other than a hard seat and some overly expensive sandwiches, are met! Plus, water dispensers are hard to find if they’re there at all.
Seating areas need to become cozy enough so that you actually want to spend time there. Cozy passengers want to spend money, so it’s also a win for airports.
And if people rather sit on the floor because they finally found a plug, then something is wrong.
Dear airports! Start investing!
